Seatrium Offshore Renewable Services (ORS) has started work on regenerating an industrial site in Lowestoft that is synonymous with offshore structures being built for the oil and gas industry and offshore wind farms.

New life is set to be breathed into the site on Hamilton Road, Lowestoft where welders, electricians, panel beaters, painters and blasting specialists had previously worked on giant platforms and other structures for the North Sea over the past 60 years.

The Lowestoft-based offshore services provider Seatrium ORS - formerly Sembmarine SLP and originally SLP Engineering - is transforming the site with a new strategic hub supporting its expanding operations across the UK and Europe.

Seatrium ORS - part of the Singapore-based Seatrium Limited - has reaffirmed its commitment to the town with the landmark new building on the northern port and dock area of Lowestoft’s PowerPark, which will further strengthen the town’s position as a premier UK hub for the clean energy sector.

The new site will support around 100 staff, with plans to recruit an additional 30 to 40 employees as part of the firm's long-term growth plans in offshore renewables.

It also employs more than 70 offshore contractors and subcontractors, with plans to expand its offshore team.
