Brave police officer who was mown down by robbers in battle to get medal
It comes as a campaign calls for better recognition for emergency services personnel who are injured and then medically discharged.

Having always dreamt of becoming a police officer, Sue Mitchell she signed up in 1984 as a serving WPC, aged 22.
But on only her fifth day of duty her life was turned upside down.

She recalled: "After a car chase, I was run down by a robbers’ getaway vehicle.
"They tried to drive right over me, and I received many injuries."
Despite being struck by the fleeing gang's car, brave WPC Mitchell managed to arrest one of them.
Despite returning to work at Essex Police, further complications arose.
Mrs Mitchell, 63, said: "I continued to suffer spinal problems and in 1987 it was discovered that I required........
