Brave police office mown down by robbers is still in battle to get medal
Lowestoft MP Jess Asato has backed calls in Parliament for a dedicated injury in service award to recognise emergency service workers forced to retire after being injured while protecting the public.
Ms Asato spoke during a House of Commons debate, with the experiences of former Essex Police officer Sue Mitchell highlighted.

Now living in Lowestoft, Mrs Mitchell - then aged 22 - suffered serious injuries on only her sixth day of duty back in November 1984.
Teenage burglars rammed the police car she was travelling in as officers attempted to block their escape.
Despite a shattered kneecap and hand injuries, she pursued and arrested one of the suspects.
