RAF Lakenheath took action shortly before 8am on Tuesday, resulting in speculation on social media.

A spokesman for the airbase, which is home to the 48th Fighter Wing, said: "An individual attempted to enter RAF Lakenheath at Gate 2 without proper identification.

"The gate barriers were deployed and security forces personnel worked........
