Karen Ryan, 57, was due in court today (Friday, November 21) after being arrested on suspicion of setting fire to her home in Paragon Place at around 4am the previous day.

She has been charged with criminal damage and arson with intent to endanger life.

Firefighters tackled the blaze and escorted Ryan from the scene as she descended the stairs of her burned flat before being checked over by paramedics.
