They have charged James Jobson with misconduct in public office following the widespread disorder which erupted earlier this month.

The 62-year-old, from Costessey, appeared before Ipswich Magistrates' Court this week, after which he was remanded in custody.

The court was told Jobson had personally visited and overseen the cleaning of all three of the Thetford properties from where police removed migrants during violent scenes earlier this month.
