Man carried out market place rampage on war memorial and attacked police officers
Eyewitnesses say Nathaniel Ling, 38, used his hands to dig holes around Dereham’s 103-year-old memorial while sipping on bottles of Corona lager.
He is then believed to have launched an attack on two police officers who had been called to the scene.
Police arrived at Market Place around 6pm on Monday, October 6 following reports that a man had been causing damage to cars and the memorial on the roundabout.
Ling, who was arrested and taken to Wymondham Police Station for questioning, was later charged and remanded in custody.
At a hearing at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, October 8, Ling pleaded guilty to a count of criminal damage and two counts of assault on two police officers.
