Labour, Lib Dems and Tories ALL fail to field candidates in Norfolk by-election

The vote is being held to replace Harry Clarke, a long-standing Labour member of Dereham Town Council, after he resigned last month over the possible introduction of car parking charges.

The only candidates standing are Andy Keats, from Reform UK, and Clem Maginniss, who is running as an independent.

While town councils often operate on non-political lines, the absence of any candidates from the three parties which have traditionally dominated Norfolk politics has raised eyebrows.
