'Nobody in Norfolk will work for us!' UK's most chaotic council struggles to recruit

Attleborough Town Council, which has burned through a series of staff and scandals in recent months, heard at its latest meeting that the authority's notoriety had spread far enough to influence its recruitment process.

"I do think we are going to have to go national," the acting clerk told Monday night's meeting, outlining the scale of the challenge facing the authority as it attempts to recruit yet another permanent clerk.

Harry Clark, the most recent clerk to take the reins, confirmed his resignation last week - days after sending an extraordinary email warning about the impact the authority's infighting was having.

He was the second clerk in under four months to step back after another administrator took temporary leave for stress earlier this year.

Monday's meeting also heard that the search for a clerk was not the only area where Attleborough's........
