1. Town cinema to undergo revamp

Orion Cinema is due to undergo a revamp after plans were approved

A cinema in Dereham once visited by Prince William and Prince Harry is set to undergo a revamp.

The Orion Cinema has been a fixture of the town's Market Place for more than 100 years.

It first opened in November 1924 and has become a popular hotspot among locals over the years.

The venue has even had a brush with royalty, with the future king and his brother paying a visit with friends in 2003 to see the final instalment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Plans for the site put forward by Mr Alexander Begg earlier this year will see a number of works being carried out to the building.

A couple is hoping to transform a village farmland into a new 'dog liberty field'.

Mr and Mrs Eglington, of SS Eglington & Son Ltd, have put forward plans for Blackmoor Row in Shipdham.

The 1.63 acre site is currently used as arable land, but could be converted into a secure area for dog owners.

This will allow them to safely exercise and train dogs off the lead, with secure perimeter fencing to be put in place.

Opening hours for the site would be 6am to 8.30pm and parking will be available for two vehicles.

3. Catering and events company kitchen approved

A catering and events company has been given the go-ahead to change the use of an equestrian grazing field into an operational base.

Bay & Fig events installed an office, preparation kitchen, and storage facilities on land behind the Shell garage in Hales, near Loddon, in 2023.

But two years ago, the business submitted a retrospective planning application for the buildings.

South Norfolk Council has now approved the bid.

A barn which used to house pigs and cattle on the outskirts of Norwich is expected to be converted into a house.

Applicant Mr Bridge has been granted permission by South Norfolk Council planners to change the use of the building in Costessey, which is "in a state of disrepair".

According to Mr Bridge's application, his family want to convert the building so they can live there and "continue enjoying the tranquil, rural location".

Mr Bridge will turn the disused barn into a three-bedroom house.

5. 10-bedroom home near seafront could become HMO

The property could provide short-term accommodation (Image: Google Maps)

A 10-bedroom property could be turned into a house in multiple occupation (HMO) to provide short-term accommodation.

The home in Gorleston's Clarence Road could offer people in adult social services a provisional place to stay while long-term arrangements are made.

It had previously been used as supported accommodation for adults with learning disabilities, accommodating seven people in total.
