The man, believed to be in his 60s, was seen leaving the site of a two-vehicle crash in London Road, Thetford, with what was described as a handgun at 8.25pm on Sunday.

Police received several reports from people who had seen a man heading towards Sainsbury’s on the Forest Retail Park carrying a weapon.

Emergency services were called at 8.25pm on Sunday

Armed officers were then scrambled to the scene, shooting the man dead about a half mile from the crash.

Police recovered what is believed to be a non-police-issue gun from the scene.

Now, a shocked bystander has claimed they saw the man "pointing........
