'Everyone stares' - Man left missing teeth after dentist takeover

Antony Read, 47, had a front tooth removed at Spixworth Dental Practice in August 2024, followed by three more in February.

He began the early stages of the denture process, but this stalled after the NHS practice was taken over.

To his horror, Mr Read was informed that the new owners didn’t have anyone trained to do dentures - unless he was prepared to pay private prices of up to £1,000.

Understandably, he has been left feeling extremely “self-conscious” about his missing teeth.

'LOW, ANXIOUS AND LET-DOWN'

The 47-year-old said: “I was told once everything had healed I'd have the denture plate done under the previous NHS dentist.

"But then I was told they didn't have any trained NHS dentists for this and I’d need to go private.”

"I have always been told I had a lovely, cheeky smile, but since all of this happened I avoid smiling.”
