Downham Market is increasingly popular among foodies and gained national recognition in 2025 for some of its top eateries.
Despite its reputation as Norfolk's 'gingerbread town' due to the colour of the carrstone used to build several of its buildings, there is far more than just the festive treat on offer.

Downham Market is a traditional town filled with plenty of quaint cafés and coffee shops.
The Pantry in the Market Place draws crowds from around Norfolk and nearby Cambridgeshire with its continental-style café and deli menu. Its breakfast is particularly popular.
Other top choices for a cuppa and some cake include Dial House in Railway Road and The Seat Coffee House in Bridge Street.
