MP branded 'inconsistent and illogical' after flip-flopping on solar farms
Ben Goldsborough, the Labour MP for South Norfolk, said he would be opposing the Tasway Energy Park, which developers want to build west of Long Stratton, despite endorsing the East Pye project to the east of the town.
The Tasway scheme would cover an area equivalent to around 1,800 football pitches around the villages of Ashwellthorpe, Hapton, Tharston, Forncett St Mary, Forncett St Peter and Tacolneston.
East Pye, which was the first major solar project to emerge in south Norfolk, is set to span 2,700 acres across villages including Hempnall, Great Moulton and Saxlingham.
Both schemes are in Mr Goldsborough's constituency and his opposition to Tasway has sparked fury among locals in the East Pye area, who have questioned why the MP declined to back their campaign while supporting those in neighbouring villages..
