The proposals were thrown out at a meeting of Swaffham Town Council after councillors suggested it would be an "embarrassment" to spend money on the unusual artwork.

The large duck population in the town has long been considered a nuisance and councillors recently suggested the birds could be culled to prevent them becoming a "health problem".

It was in light of this "anti-duck" stance that members voted against spending £250 on the statue earlier this month.
