A Norwich City Council meeting this week heard the authority would be increasing rent by 7.5pc next year.

One allotment holder said the change "had not been discussed" with tenants and was "well above inflation" despite some being unhappy with the maintenance of the sites.

Norwich City Council manages 18 allotments, which have all proven to be in high demand, with more than a thousand people waiting for a plot.
