But weeks before the 65-year-old's death on September 9 last year, he was housed in temporary accommodation in Sprowston, Norwich, due to concerns about his health.

As well as recovering from skin cancer, he had expressed a wish to reduce his alcohol intake.

Speaking to his GP two weeks prior to his death, he told them he had decided to go 'cold turkey' and as a result this had made him ill.

Shortly after 11am on the day of hisdeath, his support worker checked on him at his flat but received no response when knocking on his door.

When she looked through an outside window, she saw him lying on the floor in his bedroom.

She called the police, who were able to force entry into his room. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead.
