Norfolk man dies 35 years after receiving contaminated blood following accident
Now the family of James Stalker will be looking for answers at an inquest into his death, due to be held next month.
In his own words, written before he died at the aged of 69, he described how he was left destitute as a result of the transfusion.
He and his partner, Heidi Boulton, 62, of Ormesby St Michael, went on to lose their house, businesses and friends.
Mr Stalker died having never received a penny in compensation, despite him and his family insisting they were eligible for an interim payment of £210,000 through the government's infected blood compensation scheme.

More than 35 years ago, James Stalker survived a horrific car accident in Belgium on a back road to Antwerp, close to the Dutch border.
He was taken to hospital in the Netherlands where an x-ray revealed swelling and five hairline fractures of the pelvis.
Within several days, as soon as it was medically possible, a medical evacuation was arranged to take Mr Stalker to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.
On arrival, no loss of blood had been detected and the pelvis was allowed to heal naturally with on-going physiotherapy for the next two months.
All seemed to be going well, until he attended his daughter’s birth on July 22, 1989, at the N&N, where he became distressed.
Very quickly, he became seriously unwell and blood anaemia was........
