City folk living on roads near to the Whiffler in Hellesdon fear the plans will only worsen the parking issues they have had to endure over the last four years.

Broadland District Council approved Wetherspoon's plans, which runs the pub on Boundary Road, earlier this week despite the concerns raised over them.

In response to the decision, neighbours say the additional car parking spaces proposed in the plans will be overridden because there will also be additional seating.

Ashley Lamb, who has lived on Hercules Road near the pub for the last 14 years, said: "It was not the right decision.

"It's good they're adding new car parking spaces but it does not go far enough if they are also adding more tables.

"It's not going to make much difference."
