Folk near Hewett Academy described the bell as "annoying" after it went off every half an hour on Sunday, June 22.

The alarm was triggered at a site where Kier Construction is working on a major revamp for the school.

It is believed to have started around 11pm and could still be heard at 2am, according to those on Cecil Road whose homes overlook the school.
