Fire-ravaged wind turbine could be dismantled in major offshore operation
The turbine, part of the Scroby Sands Wind Farm, was gutted by fire on August 15, 2023, sending thick plumes of black smoke billowing across the North Sea.
Visible from miles away, as far even as Lowestoft, the blaze tore through the nacelle - the heart of the turbine that houses its generator - leaving behind a charred, skeletal structure.
Now, energy company RWE is preparing to remove the remains of the wrecked turbine, known as T06, in a project scheduled to begin this summer.
