Unite the union said the staff, mainly working in repair and maintenance roles, are among thousands of council workers across the country being balloted after rejecting a 3.3pc pay offer.

The ballot opens on July 16 and closes on August 17, and could result in a summer of industrial action across the borough.

It follows a separate vote which saw around 100 bin collectors, street cleaners, tree surgeons, gardeners and grave diggers, employed by Great Yarmouth........
