Thickthorn roundabout revamp work to begin later this year after £153m deal struck
National Highways has reached agreement with Skanska to carry out the work on the A47/A11 junction on the edge of Norwich.
A contract had previously been awarded to Galliford Try, the company doing the dualling work on two other sections of the A47 in Norfolk - between Blofield and North Burlingham and from Easton to North Tuddenham.
But, with the schemes held up by the legal challenge by former Green councillor Dr Andrew Boswell, National Highways retendered the Thickthorn scheme, with the UK branch of Swedish company Skanska winning it.
The plans include construction of two new free-flowing link roads to connect the A47 with the A11, re-routing traffic away from the junction and flowing it under new underpasses.
Skanska will also build two new junctions, widen the existing slip road on the A47 westbound and remove an existing footbridge, replacing it with a new one for........
