Tax to pay for Norfolk police could go up by maximum to fund pay and pension rises

Norfolk's police and crime commissioner Sarah Taylor has started public consultation around the budget for policing in 2026/27.

And the newly-independent Ms Taylor, who quit the Labour party last week , is consulting over the maximum hike in the force's share of council tax bills which is possible without triggering a referendum.

Her consultation includes a proposed 4.23pc increase in that council tax share, which would mean a Band D property would pay an extra £13.95 a year - with the total annual police precept for such a property increasing to £343.80.

Ms Taylor said she had come up with the potential increase after discussions........
