Shock move will see single male asylum seekers housed in Norfolk hotel from Monday
The Home Office has told South Norfolk Council that it will be housing the men in the Park Hotel in Diss from Monday, despite concerns from the council and Norfolk Constabulary.

Council leaders fear it could lead to tension in the town and that protesters may target it as they have other Norfolk hotels being used for asylum seekers.
They are also worried that, for those asylum seekers who have their applications to remain in the UK approved, there will be a shortage of suitable places for them to live in the Diss area.
They say they already struggle to house people in need of accommodation, so homelessness in the town could increase.

They say urban areas, rather than rural towns, are better able to provide the support the asylum-seekers need.
And they are irritated that the government has given so little notice about the move - having only informed the authority by letter on Wednesday.
The hotel, in on Denmark Street, close to the Mere and the town centre, has been used for asylum seekers since 2023.
