Reform UK bid to block axe for Norfolk councils backed by Great Yarmouth First

In a move which could prove significant, given the political make-up at Norfolk County Council, Restore Britain MP Mr Lowe said the nine-strong Great Yarmouth First group would back the prospective Reform UK administration's challenge.

Reform UK, which has 40 councillors at County Hall - three shy of a majority - looks likely to run the authority as a minority administration when the authority elects a new leader on May 28.

That would leave it relying on votes from other parties to enact major policies and Great Yarmouth First's support to fight local government organisation could prove crucial.

Reform UK group leader David Bick announced on Friday (May 15) his party would take legal action to block proposals to get rid of the current eight Norfolk councils, including Norfolk County Council.

The Labour government intends to replace them with new unitary authorities - Greater Norwich City........
