Two sites, which used to house Cantley Primary School and Ten Mile Bank Riverside Academy in Downham Market, have just been declared surplus to County Hall's requirements.

The Conservative-controlled cabinet at the authority agreed to instruct officers to put the buildings up for sale on the open market, either through an auction or by tender.

However, it emerged at a meeting on Monday, Dec 1 that there is already interest in the buildings which used to house Cantley Primary School.

Council leaders revealed a resident had presented County Hall with a business case to get the Cantley site turned into a school for SEND pupils.

Cantley Primary School was merged with Freethorpe Primary School in September, after it saw its pupil numbers drop.
