Tougher new laws will crack down on dog owners whose pets attack farm animals
The Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) Bill, which gives police more powers to tackle livestock worrying, has now cleared both Houses of Parliament and will become law once it receives royal assent.
Peers and MPs both agreed to lift a £1,000 cap on fines which the courts can impose in dog attack cases.
Llamas, alpacas and other members of the camelid family will gain new legal protections against dog attacks and livestock worrying, in line with goats, sheep, cattle and poultry.
Incidents occurring on roads and public paths will also now be treated as offences along with those in fields and........
