Norfolk flooding summit seeks united action to tackle growing threats

The Norfolk Inland Flood and Drought Summit will be held at County Hall on January 31 - the same date which brought some of the county's worst-ever flooding 72 years ago in 1953.

Since then, the warming climate has brought more extremes of weather and contributed to heavy rains which have flooded homes, land and communities across Norfolk in recent years.

The summit will explore prevention strategies, community preparedness, and the role of local government - with the goal of setting out a clear action plan.

It will build on the work of the Norfolk Strategic Flooding Alliance, which brings together all agencies and partners involved in planning for, and responding to, flooding in the county.
