Nature movement grows beyond East Anglian roots to inspire national 'Wild Kingdom'

WildKingdom has evolved from WildEast, a conservation charity founded in 2020 with the 50-year ambition of returning 20pc of East Anglia to nature.

What began as an appeal to East Anglian farmers to restore nature corridors in "WildEdges" alongside historic hedgerow networks soon proliferated into a collective conservation movement involving farms, schools, councils and community groups.

A digital, interactive Map of Dreams was developed to log rewilding and nature restoration pledges and projects, ranging from large estates to gardeners with a window box.

Now this technology has been expanded nationally to chart conservation efforts across Britain.

And the three "eco-anxious" East Anglian farmers and landowners who founded WildEast – Hugh Somerleyton, Argus Hardy and Olly Birkbeck – have thrown down the gauntlet to the other regions of the UK to collaborate........
