Champion farmer reveals how he became crowned the best in Norfolk

Chapman Farms, based at Rollesby near Great Yarmouth, is the 2025 champion in the Norfolk Farm Business Competition, run by the committee behind the Aylsham Show.

The farm previously won the coveted accolade in 2016, but since then there have been many changes, including taking on new land and contracting agreements to expand the total area farmed to around 1,700 hectares.

Meanwhile, land has been sold for housing developments, allowing £2m to be reinvested in a new farmyard facility aimed at sustaining the business for future generations.

Diversification and conservation are also important factors in the success of a farm which also includes large swathes of woodland and Defra-funded environmental stewardship, alongside commercial and residential lettings, a livery yard and livestock graziers.
