The Diocese of Norwich Education and Academies Trust (DNEAT) says its bid to merge Brancaster primary, near Hunstanton, with another school it runs five miles away at Docking, has been approved by ministers.

Its chief executive Oliver Burwood said in a letter to families the move would happen at the end of the current school year.

"I know how strong the feelings were in relation to this issue, both from parents and the wider community," he added.

"Although I know that many of you will be disappointed, I do hope the decision, now made, will enable parents and families to plan next steps for their children’s education."
