A spokesman for GO Outdoors said: “With the highest average daily spring sunshine hours among the top 10 beaches, it’s a great option for spring sunseekers.

“The beach’s shoreline stretches north from the mouth of the River Blyth and past Southwold Pier, where visitors can play arcade games or enjoy delicious food at local favourites such as The Boardwalk Restaurant and The Clockhouse.”

The top spot went to Cuckmere Haven in East Sussex, which scored 9.60 out of 10.

Calum Jones, author and outdoor enthusiast at GO Outdoors, shared his advice for making the most of Britain’s beaches this spring.

He said: “As the days get longer and the weather warms up, spring is the perfect time to explore the UK’s stunning coastlines. From Druridge Bay Beach in the North East to Immeridge Bay in the South West, there are breathtaking beaches to discover all around the country.”

He also reminded beachgoers to think about sun safety: “Even in spring, the sun can be strong. Apply sunscreen before heading out, and don’t forget a cap and sunglasses to protect yourself from UV rays.”
