People welcome town's reversed one-way system and new look bus station
The scheme to improve the Market Gates Interchange in Great Yarmouth was coordinated by Norfolk County Council and has seen the town's one-way system reversed.
It means parts of one-way systems around Deneside, King Street, Regent Street and Regent Road have changed direction.
The change of direction is to allow northbound buses to enter Market Gates bus station in the opposite direction, and it is said it will shave several minutes off journey times.
Now, for the first time in more than 30 years, the buses are entering the interchange from both directions.
'END OF THE CHAOS'
Kevin Beaumount (Image: Bruno Brown) Kevin Beaumount, from Great Yarmouth, believes the new layout is "more direct" and "much faster" for buses going to Norwich.
He said: "Now it’s all finished, I think it’s good. But while the work was being done, it was a big inconvenience, it caused chaos.
"People didn't know where the buses were gonna get you from, etc, and once I had worked it out, I spent a lot of time telling others what to do, where to catch their buses.
"I think it will save time for buses going to Norwich because before they had to swing around most of Yarmouth, now it’s more direct, and I think once people get used to it, it will be better."
