Scott Glen of Belvidere Road in Great Yarmouth had sought permission from Great Yarmouth Borough Council (GYBC) to build a single-storey extension to the rear of the terraced building.

But planning officials at GYBC refused the application after deeming it "unacceptable" under the local plan as it would reduce the "private amenity space" at the property for the occupiers.
