On Thursday night, Newsnight led with the dramatic scenes which developed in Thetford amid the third night in a row of disruption.

Approximately 22 minutes of the 30-minute programme was dedicated to discussing the unrest, which has now seen four people arrested.

Henry Durand, one of our reporters, highlighted the “militant atmosphere” among a crowd which gathered outside a home in Clover Way on Wednesday, which was thought to be housing asylum seekers.
