Five shops in town slapped with closure notices after illegal cigarette raids

Great Yarmouth Borough Council issued immediate closure notices on the businesses after raids and test purchases uncovered ongoing illegal tobacco sales in the King Street area.

The council is now seeking court orders to keep the shops closed for three months, to be heard tomorrow.

Paul Wells, portfolio holder for environment and sustainability, licensing and waste at the council, said: "Working closely with our partners over the past few months, we have targeted premises where we were alerted to illegal tobacco........
