Future of 17th century stately home to be preserved as plans given go-ahead

The National Trust has been given the go-ahead to replace part of the stately home's roof to protect the historic building from rain damage.

The work to the building will focus on the south corridor roof in the estate’s service wing - a grade II listed section.

The current roof design causes rainwater to flow back towards the main building, which has led to leaks, blocked gutters and damage to plaster inside.
