Norfolk's largest port reveals expansion plans...after running out of space
Peel Ports, operator of the recently renamed Port of East Anglia in Great Yarmouth, hopes to lease around seven acres of mostly unused land in the adjoining South Denes area of the port estate from the Borough Council.
It comes as the port is set to run out of space by 2027 - a year before it expects to complete its multi-million-pound Outer Harbour expansion.
Peel Ports recently announced £60m of investment to develop the southern terminal of the Outer Harbour, which will create 350m of new quay - growing the port's berthing capacity by a third.
An additional £15m of joint investment between Peel Ports and Scottish Power Renewables will enable the port's northern terminal to support the next generation of offshore wind projects, with the works set to be complete by March next year.
