Lake Jackson Ltd, based in Lingwood, was closed down with immediate effect by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

The regulator said it took the decision because it had reason to suspect dishonesty on the part of Mark Jackson, the firm's manager.

The SRA said Mr Jackson and the firm had failed to comply with strict regulatory standards, ethics and accounts rules relating to the handling of client money.
