Hold on to your hats, Gulls fans, it’s going to be a mighty close thing
Every Wednesday in the Herald Express, our Torquay United correspondent Richard Hughes takes a sideways look at what's going on in the world of the Gulls. This week, he looks at the 'tightest title race in Europe' - and how it will go down to the wire
As Blackadder might have said, on looking at the top of the National League South table: ‘It’s closer than a close thing living in a close off Close Lane in Closeshire.’
With five games to go, this run-in is the closest that I can remember – and it’s going to be an intriguing one, with only nine points between Worthing at the top of the table, and Boreham Wood in the final play-off spot. OK, so it might be a stretch to think Boreham can close that gap now – but until the final ball is kicked on April 26, really, anything is possible, and nothing would be surprising.
Torquay manager Paul Wotton reckons the season could go down........
