Man may face jail in a bid to collect all periodic table elements

An Australian man, Emmanuel Lidden, faces up to 10 years in prison for attempting to collect all the elements in the periodic table, including ordering plutonium online.

In August 2023, Lidden, 24, was arrested after a major operation by Australian Border Force and other agencies. He pleaded guilty to violating nuclear non-proliferation laws. Lidden’s lawyer argues that he is simply a “science nerd” and that his actions were out of naivety, not malicious intent.
