Shrill Echoes of Indian-Fueled Separatism!
Pakistan assumed the Presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for July 2025 recently. Expected celebrations of a diplomatic milestone have been met with hostility from a familiar voice of dissent-Hyrbyair Marri. Operating from exile in London and frequently amplified through Indian media platforms hostile to Pakistan, Marri has launched yet another tirade against the Pakistani state. His critiques range from accusations of human rights abuses in Balochistan to questioning Pakistan’s very legitimacy as a sovereign state and its right to hold international diplomatic leadership. However, a closer analysis reveals Marri’s narrative is not only steeped in hypocrisy but also mirrors the broader propaganda objectives of hostile intelligence operations, particularly India’s RAW. Hyrbyair Marri’s campaign revolves around a consistent set of talking points;
First, Marri claims Pakistan has no moral authority to preside over the UNSC due to its alleged human rights record in Balochistan. However, this argument ignores the procedural reality that the presidency is rotational and alphabetical, not based on performance metrics or moral superiority. Furthermore, Balochistan’s challenges are not isolated incidents but part of a broader counter-insurgency campaign necessitated by decades of separatist violence, in which groups like the BLA-openly supported by Marri-have targeted poor migrant workers, security forces, and infrastructure development projects.
