Energy bill drop a welcome boost for families but still unaffordable for too many Scots
A key plank of Keir Starmer’s Labour manifesto was a pledge to lower household energy bills by £300 a year by the end of the decade.
While there’s still some way to go, yesterday marked a big step forward in reaching that goal.
A new price cap means typical household bills will drop by £129 to £1720 per year.
From July, the cap will be £660 lower than at the height of the energy crisis at the start of 2023, when the UK Government implemented the energy price guarantee.
