Representative Ilhan Omar was attacked during a town-hall meeting in Minneapolis on Tuesday night. As the Democrat spoke out against the Trump administration’s deadly immigration surge in Minnesota, a man rushed up to her and sprayed an unknown liquid at her from a syringe.

Footage from the event showed security tackling the man to the ground. Staffers urged Omar to stop and get a medical check, but she immediately insisted on continuing her remarks.

“We are Minnesota strong. We will stay resilient in the face of whatever they might throw at us,” she said after returning to the lectern.

The suspect, 55-year-old Anthony J. Kazmierczak, was arrested on suspicion of assault.
