Coventry council blasted over cycle lane plan as 'there has to be way'
Coventry Live readers have been engaging in a heated debate over a campaign to halt the felling of 26 trees for a new cycleway. The conflict between environmental preservation and infrastructure development has sparked a divide among city dwellers.
A last-minute attempt to prevent Coventry's trees from being cut down for a cycleway was thrown out by the High Court yesterday. Activists requested a judicial review of the city council's decision to construct the route on a section of Clifford Bridge Road.
The council's proposal to fell 26 trees for the cycleway faced significant opposition last year. But a judge in the high court refused an injunction to stop works and an application for a judicial review into the council's decision making.
