Yvette Cooper has made a commitment to "take back our town centres from antisocial behaviour, thugs and thieves" as part of a major revamp of policing, marking one of the most significant shifts in recent decades. The roll-out of over 50 new crime-fighting laws is on the cards - including a particularly noteworthy power that will allow police officers to enter homes without warrants if technological evidence suggests stolen items, such as mobile phones, are inside.
