Another car falls foul of busway as locals call for ‘flashing lights at entrances’
Frustration is mounting among Cambridgeshire Live readers after yet another car became stranded on the guided busway in St Ives — the second such incident in just seven days.
The most recent incident occurred shortly after 11am on Friday, August 1, when a vehicle became trapped on the busway near St Ives. The guided busway — which stretches 16 miles and connects Cambridge, Huntingdon, and St Ives — follows a former railway line.
It is designed to be used only by specially adapted buses. These vehicles are automatically guided by concrete tracks and can travel at speeds up to 56mph on dedicated sections.
