Calgary top cop Katie McLellan is one no-nonsense interview.

Too many cops have become big city police chiefs only to turn politician or pop psychologist or hug-a-thug sellout burping up empty-calorie talking points cooked up to say little and designed not to ruffle any feathers.

McLellan is not that kind of police chief. She doesn’t hold back. She speaks in the language you might hear in a pub in her native Scotland.

One of the issues the Calgary police chief brings up without even being asked is the number of dangerous super speeders on the streets.

Yes, those drivers who go like a bat out of hell, where it’s full speed ahead, the pedal right down to the metal and the law is for other people.

They’ll go as fast as they can because it feels so good and they can see if they’re faster than the next guy and they have bragging rights.

And besides, nobody can tell them what to do. Their fun comes first.

The police chief wants to bring down the hammer. Enough is enough.
