Don’t believe the cheap and easy headlines.
“Worst Wallaby team in 67 years, blah, blah, blah.”
They’re not remotely that, even if they have only won five of fifteen Tests this year, and even if they come off this spring tour without a win to bless themselves with.
For as our blokes just proved against the French in Paris, they’re still a team capable of taking, shaking, raking and even baking the very best teams in the world on their home ground, and playing stupendous rugby that thrills rugby lovers across the world.
Just as it was last week against Ireland, when they were still in it with ten minutes to go, it’s just the finishing them off that is the problem!
It is only the crazy combination of consistent fabulous play, mixed with a slew of egregious errors, that frustrates so much.
The first half saw stupendous rugby from both sides, led by Wallaby front-rowers Angus Bell and Matthew Faessler scoring three tries between them, the latter getting a double.
The Australians looked great and looked dangerous, by chancing their arm and playing to their strengths. Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead, let’s take this French side on!
